Rheumatology service

This service is located at the Centre de recherche clinique in Sherbrooke and is composed of many rheumatologists. The main goals for the platform we have developed is to publicize the service's main research axis and to support researchers for the training of medical students.

Scoresharp / SENS

This application serves as a tutorial to guide rheumatologists and other health specialists in the use of the Sharp score modified by van der Heijde (Sharp) and the Simple Erosion Narrowing Score (SENS). These two methods are the most frequently used in clinical research to score radiological joint damage in rheumatoid arthritis. A scoring engine was developed by which individual joints can be identified on hands and feet radiographs, with the possibility to attribute individual narrowing and erosions scores. The score obtained by the rheumatologist can then be compared to a reference score established by a trained radiologist, allowing the visitor to improve his scoring skills. Digital images of radiographs can be submitted by rheumatologists and, if accepted, added to the collection of radiographs on the site.

Vignette

This product was designed with the purpose of offering medical students, residents and interested teachers the possibility to evaluate their knowledge of rheumatology by taking part in an online challenging and interactive rheumatological case scenario. A new case is presented on a monthly basis. Each case is subdivided into 2 or 3 sections. Following each, a question is submitted which participants are then asked to answer. Short feedback is provided, and the next section of the vignette is then shown to the participants, followed again by a related question. The administrator of the product can view all submitted answer and has access to various statistics, such as the number of correct answers and the number of visitors to the site.
